Evelyn E. Danner

November 10th, 1928 – July 17th, 2023

Evelyn E. Danner, 94, of Macomb, IL, formerly of Astoria, IL, passed away at 8:40 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023 at The Elms in Macomb. She was born on Saturday, November 10, 1928 in Astoria, the daughter of Hart and Iona (Hetrick) Danner.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Wise of Astoria, sister-in-law, Dorothy Danner of Decatur, IL, three nieces, Marsha Wise Colletta of Oakland, OR, Kristen (and Brad) Bettencourt of Arnold, MD and Carrie Wise of Astoria, and three nephews, Ed (and Kathryn) Wise of Worland, WY, Dan (and Robin) Wise of Bolingbrook, IL, and Scott A. Danner of Decatur.

She is preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Danner and one brother, Victor Danner.

Evelyn served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956.

Evelyn was a 1946 graduate of Astoria High School. After high school, she graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy in 1947. She ran Evelyn’s Beauty Shop in Astoria from 1947 until 1953. After her service in the Air Force, Evelyn reopened her shop in 1956 and was in business until 2017. She enjoyed working, running her shop and talking to her customers.

She was member of the Astoria American Legion Post #25 and the Ipava Order of the Eastern Star #223, where she served as treasurer for several years. She was also a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the church choir and taught Sunday school. Evelyn enjoyed flowers and gardening.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Astoria Cemetery. Reverend Bob Greene will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post#25. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to The Elms in Macomb.

I’m so sorry for your oss. I was in Easteern Star with Evelyn for years. She will be missed. The family will be in my thoughts and prayers. She was the sweetest loving lady. Fly high Evelyn. In sisterly love, Judy Wilson.
