Nina J. Hendricks Merrill

December 2nd, 1931 – October 14th, 2023

Nina J. Hendricks Merrill, 91, of Astoria, passed away at 4:45 am on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at her home. She was born on December 2, 1931 in rural Rushville, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Venia (Chute) Hendricks. Nina married Roy Lee Merrill on September 20, 1947 in Quincy, IL. Roy preceded Nina in death on August 13, 2007.

Also preceding Nina in death are her 2 sons, Kevin and Thomas Merrill, one great-grandson, Caleb Weaver, and 12 siblings.

Surviving are her 2 daughters, Norma (and John) Onion of Astoria, and Cindy (and Danny) Weaver of Astoria, 7 grandchildren; Bobbie (and Neal) Wright, Sean Weaver, Trevor (and Brittany Batterton) Weaver, Stephanie (and Andres) Hernandez, Bryan (and Randa) Onion, Jason (and Alison) Merrill, and Travis (and Katie) Merrill, 15 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Nina enjoyed sewing, mowing the lawn, and restoring antique furniture. She loved her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. They were her pride and joy. Nina was known for her strong and unwavering faith.

A private family service will be held. Memorials in memory of Nina may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
