Norma Jean Hammond

April 23rd, 1935 – October 18th, 2023

Norma J. Hammond, 88, of Manito, IL, passed away at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Courtyard Estates of Green Valley. She was born on April 23, 1935 in Beardstown, IL, the daughter of Roy and Fern (Danner) Sullivan. Norma married William R. Hammond on February 18, 1955 in Lewistown, IL. William preceded Norma in death on January 9, 2007.

Also preceding her in death are her parents and sister, Sharon Evans.

She is survived by her two sons, William Alan Hammond of Big Rock, TN and Mark Hammond of Manito.

Norma was a 1953 graduate of Astoria High School and was a member of the Astoria High School Band. She was also a member of the Astoria Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed working on crafts. Norma loved her family and was always very supportive of her two sons.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Matthew Thiner will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
