Jerry L. Strode

January 18th, 1941 – March 4th, 2024

Jerry L. Strode, 83, of Marietta, IL, went home to be with his Lord at 2:25 am on Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home in Marietta. He was born on January 18, 1941 in Springfield, IL, the son of Charles and Ethel Strode. Jerry married Sharon Colelasure. Sharon preceded Jerry in death on May 9, 2016. He later married Karen McDivitt on June 23, 2020. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons; Jared (and Carol) Strode and Derek (and Rachel) Strode, both of Marietta, one daughter; Brittany (and Darren) Ishmael of Effingham, IL, 5 granddaughters, 1 grandson, two brothers; Tom (and Donna) Strode of Florida and Charles “Chuck” (and Donna) Strode of Springfield, IL, one sister, Sandra (and Bob) of Kilbourne, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife Sharon, Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rick Strode.

He was a 1959 graduate of Lanphier High School in Springfield. He started the Avenue Glass Shop with his brother, Tom, and at one point in time; it was the largest glass business in Springfield. He later went on to farm. Jerry owned numerous different farms before buying his most recent farm in Marietta where he resided.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He's been a kind friend to me through the 5 years I new him.
