Betty J. Warner
July 5th, 1921 – April 28th, 2015
Betty June Warner, age 93, of Rushville, IL, formerly of Astoria, IL, passed away at 2:17 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She was born on July 5, 1921 in Bluff City, IL, the daughter of Frank and Mildred (Bloomfield) Shaw. Betty married Charles Warner in Mexico, MO. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1989.
Survivors include her son, Charles M. Warner of Rushville, IL, daughter, Cynthia Warner and Mark Edwards of Springfield, IL, 2 grandchildren, Doug (and Kim) Warner of Spring Hills, TN and Terry (and Catrina) Warner of Huntsville, IL, 4 great-granchildren- Emilee, Jacob, Ruby and Sadie and 2 great-great grandchildren, Elijah and Haylee
Also preceding Betty in death are her parents, daughter-in-law, Carol Warner and 3 brothers, Lester, Myron and Dale Shaw.
She and her husband were partners in Warner Bookkeeping in Astoria, retiring in 1982. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Astoria Schools and for Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville in their business office.
She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and a 60 year member of the Ipava Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Rushville in 2000 and did volunteer work for the Schuyler County Museum and the Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Rushville Rainbow Garden Club.
Services will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:30 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. David Little will be officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Astoria United Methodist Church.
