Dorothy I. Arnett
December 31st, 1941 – May 2nd, 2024
Dorothy I. Arnett, age 82 of Lewistown, Illinois, passed away at 8:48 am on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at The Loft in Canton, Illinois. She was born on December 31, 1941 in Astoria, Illinois, the daughter of Vern Roy and Adah Fern (Bankes) McCormick. Dorothy married Lyle Arnett on July 16, 1967 in Astoria. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Rhonda (and Tony) Wherley of Mason City, Illinois and Darren Arnett of Canton, Illinois and five grandchildren; Hannah, Gage and Cole Wherley and Madelyn and Mason Arnett.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Sarah Arnett, two infant sisters and four brothers; Norman, Merlin, Melvin and Marvin McCormick.
She worked as a Bank Officer. She was a member and Elder of the Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown, Illinois. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, May 6th from 5-7 pm at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, Illinois. A memorial service will be held after visitation at 7 pm. Pastor Brant Reed will officiate. Interment will be in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove at a later date. Memorials in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Illinois Street Christian Church or the Hospice Compassus.
