Kurt Plate

March 11th, 1965 – September 12th, 2024

William Kurtis Plate, 59, of Astoria, IL passed away at 4:50 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at his sister’s home in Lewistown, IL. He was born on March 11, 1965 in Havana, IL, the son of William Lee and Dorothy (Trone) Plate.

He is survived by one sister; Kimberly (and Pete) Ford of Lewistown, IL, one brother; Kevin (and Shannee) Plate of Macomb, IL, two nephews; Tyler (and Libby) Plate and Thomas (and Shannon) Plate, two nieces; Kylie (and Billy) Clark and Whitney Sullivan, and three great-nieces and nephews; Tucker Plate, Claire Plate and Addison Clark.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Kurt retired as a Carpenter, belonging to Local Union 237. He worked as a Union Carpenter and attained the title Master Carpenter.

He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He loved working and loved his life.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.

Kurt was special to us and always remember him and Kevin riding their bikes over to see if we were friendly.
Time passes so quickly and so sorry we hadn't seen him more in later years.
