Barbara J. Bennett

June 8th, 1929 – May 7th, 2015

Barbara J. Bennett, age 85, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 8:30 am on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria. She was born on June 8, 1929 in Astoria, IL, the daughter of Harold and Roxanna (Trimmer) Sales.

Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne (and Robert) Brooks of Bartonville, IL, her son, Steven Bennett of Bellevue, IL, five grandchildren, Robert Brooks, Scott (and Emma) Brooks, Stephen Bennett, Angela (and David) Walley and Renee (and Opey) Rowell, fourteen great-grandchildren and two brothers, Van Sales of Peoria, IL and Roger (and Nancy) Sales of Eureka, IL.

She is preceded in death by four brothers, Dr. Steve Sales, Munson Sales, Vernon Sales and Freddie Sales, and two sisters, Joanna Lester and Joyce Hazelrigg.

Barbara worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville, IL and as a waitress. She attended The Bible Baptist Church in Bartonville, IL. She liked the outdoors, singing to her grandchildren and children and enjoyed music.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Zach Rogers will be officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church in Bartonville, IL.
