Charles K. "Chuck" Gilson

November 9th, 1943 – May 15th, 2025

Charles K. “Chuck” Gilson, 81, of Macomb, IL, passed away at 1:26 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at The Lamoine Retirement Living in Macomb. He was born on Tuesday, November 9, 1943 in Macomb, the son of Kenneth and Mary (Andrews) Gilson. Chuck married Kathleen Sheets in Vermont, IL. Kathleen preceded Charles in death on November 12, 2007.

Chuck is also preceded in death by his parents, two step-daughters; Wendy Kaler and Kelly Kaler, and grandson; Tyler Gilson.

He is survived by one son; Robert (and Salina) Gilson of Vermont; four grandchildren; Justin Gilson, Gage (and Abigail Decker) Gilson, Kianna (and James Hills) Gilson and Addie (and Tyler) Kimbro, three great-grandsons; Trenten Kimbro, Dayten Kimbro and Griffin Gilson, and his brother; Jon (and Cathy) Gilson of Jacksonville, FL.

Chuck first worked at the Vermont Foundry in Vermont. He later would work at and retire from Caterpillar.

He enjoyed race horses, playing cards and bowling. He bowled on the Ipava State Bank bowling team. He loved to read and would even read a book a day.

Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
