Mary moved to Table Grove with her family during World War II. She graduated from Table Grove High School in 1946 and attended Western Illinois University, where she studied art. She continued to make art all of her life, working in several mediums, including oil painting, pen & ink, weaving, and other textile arts.

She lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for 26 years, moving back to Wesley Village in Macomb, Illinois, in November of 2024. While in New Mexico she worked at the Georgia O’keeffe Museum, the Santa Fe Opera gift shop, and as a sales associate for Nambe Designs. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, traveling, was an avid reader, and painted miniature oil paintings well into her nineties.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm at the Table Grove Community Center. Interment will be at a later date in the Harris Cemetery in Table Grove. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire & Rescue Squad, the William L. Hipsley Trust, or the donor’s choice.
