Rodney E. "Rusty" Belville

November 11th, 1934 – September 24th, 2025

Rodney E. “Rusty” Belville, 90, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Astoria, IL, passed away at 12:30 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Beardstown Health & Rehab Center in Beardstown, IL. He was born on November 11, 1934 in Astoria, the son of Loren and Veneta (Furnace) Belville. Rusty married Donna Robinson on September 12, 1959 in Ipava, IL. Donna preceded Rusty in death on December 3, 2000.

Also preceding him in death is his daughter; Kerry Jo Simpson.

He is survived by his son; David (and Loretta Howell) Belville, ten grandchildren; Clint (and Heavenly) Belville, Abe (and Alisha) Belville, Jessica Rhodes, Erica (and Bo) Peterman, Isabelle (and Matthew) Slaughter, Natasha (and Ben) Ogden, Olivia Phillips, Ulysses (and Shelby) Belville, Niki Davis and Will Belville, several great-grandchildren, and life partner; Mary Lou Scrogum.

Rusty served in the United States Army.

He retired from Caterpillar. After retirement, Rusty was a painter. He started painting grain bins and went on to paint a little bit of everything from barns, houses and even ceramics and paintings.

He was a member of O.D.D. Fellows. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed painting and traveling.

Services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Matt Haberman will officiate. A visitation will take place on hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Astoria, Illinois. Military Rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Astoria Fire and Rescue Department or Toys for Tots.
