Carol J. Miller

January 24th, 1938 – February 23rd, 2026

Carol Jean Miller, 88, of Canton, formerly of Ipava, passed away at 1:42am on Monday, February 23 in the ICU at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born January 24, 1938 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL to Lena (Smart) and Charles Sosey. She married Robert Gene Miller on May 12, 1957 in Cuba, IL. He preceded her in death March 22, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jim Sosey.

She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dave) Berry, of Cuba; two grandsons Kurt (Sarah) Palm of Stafford, VA and Kory (Tabitha) Palm of Bushnell; three great-grandchildren, Bella, Connor and Kaden; one sister-in-law Carol (Larry) Wilson of Atascadero, CA and one bother-in-law, Eldon Miller of Cuba and several nieces and nephews.

Carol attended Cuba High School, graduating in 1956. She enjoyed the neighborhood card club, knitting, traveling and most of all spending time with her family. She also was a member of the signing group “The Melodears” recording a record in 1960. She was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church in Smithfield. She also collected glass shoes.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 3 pm on Friday, February 27, 2026 in the Baughman Cemetery in Smithfield, IL. Pastor Kevin Kessler will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Ipava American Legion.
