Janet Kay Parry

March 4th, 1945 – April 28th, 2026

Janet K. Parry, 81, of Vermont, IL, passed away at 8:55 am on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at The Elms in Macomb, IL. She was born on March 4, 1945 in Vermont, the daughter of Ruth Kinne. Janet married Bobby Parry on December 31, 1975 in Vermont. He survives.

Also surviving are her seven children; Shelley (and Greg) Abernathy, Melanie VanNattan, Robin (and Rick) McHone, Angela (and Tommie) Cain, Ruth (and Steve) Huber, Dick (and Stacy) Hampton and Bobbi (and Jake) Peters, twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, sister; Linda (and Carl) Kingery, two sister-in-laws; Phyllis Bernius and Margaret Tomaszek, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog; Belle.

She was preceded in death by her mother, brother; Jim Kinne, and two sister-in-laws; Peggy Rumler and Kathy Little.

Janet retired from Caterpillar as a laborer.

Janet enjoyed going to the casino, reading, and playing games on her tablet. She loved her family and taking care of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Cody Stinnett will be officiating. A visitation will take place from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, April 30 at the funeral home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery.

Janet was a loving, kind and generous woman. She loved and enjoyed her family so very much. She was a hard worker. I loved your mom from the time I babysat for her when I was only 15 years old...then as the years passed, we reconnected in recent years, and she was still the kindest, most loving person I knew from years before. I am thankful that she is safe at "Home" with her Loving, Heavenly Father, and the worries,cares and pains of this life are over, and she is in God's loving care.
