Gary Bloyd

October 6th, 1943 – March 17th, 2026

Gary Bloyd, age 82 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 12:15 am March 17, 2026 at National Health Care in Joplin of natural causes. He was born October 6, 1943 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL, the son V.K. and Ione (Howerter) Bloyd.

He leaves behind his wife, Judy (Keefauver) Bloyd. They were married 57 years. Also surviving are his children, Doug Bloyd of Ore City, Texas and Dee Bloomberg of Joplin, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Gary worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois for 31 years until retiring. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his wife and family.

His final wishes were to be cremated and then return home to his final resting place in Ipava, Illinois. A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 10:30 am in the Ipava Cemetery. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will follow at the Ipava American Legion from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gary’s memory may be made to the Ipava Masonic Lodge.
