Keith Ellison
March 13th, 1922 – July 3rd, 2015
Keith Ellison, age 93, of Lewistown, IL, passed away at 4:30 pm on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on March 13, 1922 in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, IL, the son of Carl and Ruth (Snowden) Ellison. Keith married Betty Leng on July 7, 1946 in Victoria, IL. Betty preceded Keith in death on December 19, 1990. Keith later married Dottie Hunt on February 13, 1994 in Lewistown, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his two daughters, Kathy Bloyd of Lewistown, IL and Ruth Ann Ellison of Springfield, IL, two step-sons, Jeffery (and Tammy) Sharp of Princeville, IL and Gregory Sharp of East Peoria, IL, two grandchildren, Todd Bloyd and Marcy (and J.D.) Lantz, five step grandchildren, Sarah Sharp, Madison Sharp, Ronnee Sharp, Ryan Sharp and Aaron Sharp, five great-grandchildren- Kristin, Kati and Griffin Bloyd, Gunner and Tatumn Lantz, his sister Laura May Azbell of Ipava, IL and nephew Scott Azbell.
Keith was in the US Army serving from 1943 to 1945, with a rank of TEC 5, in the 573rd Ambulance Company,
He farmed in the Ipava and Vermont area. Keith was a member of the Methodist Church in Lewistown, the Ipava American Legion Post 17, Ipava Masonic Lodge #213 for over 50 years, Havana VFW Post 6408 and Shriner Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria for nearly 50 years.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Lewistown. Pastor Deryck Sonaram will be officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at the church in Lewistown with Masonic Services conducted at 8:00 pm by the Ipava Masonic Lodge #213. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery in Ipava, IL with military rites provided by the Ipava American Legion Post #17. Memorials may be made to the Havana VFW Post 6408 or United Methodist Church of Lewistown.
