Jeremy Wade Spencer

March 6th, 1973 – May 14th, 2026

Jeremy Wade Spencer, 53, of Astoria, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026 while enjoying one of his favorite pastimes of fishing. He was born on March 6, 1973 at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL to David and Brenda (Robertson) Spencer, who survive.

Also surviving are his sister, Amanda (and Ryan) Thomas, niece Addison Thomas, and nephew Colt Thomas, all of Astoria, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jeremy was preceded in death by his brother Joey Spencer, maternal grandparents Edmon “Cotton” and Mary Robertson, paternal grandparents Harold and Margaret Spencer, and three uncles, Jerry Robertson, Tim Robertson and Harold Spencer, Jr.

He was a 1991 graduate of VIT High School.

He worked at DOT Foods for almost 30 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, riding 4-wheelers and tending his garden.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date. Shawgo Memorial Home has been entrusted with arrangements

To Cousin Brenda and family..
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your son. I recall him as a young boy at the annual Smith-Carnes reunions, but since we stopped the reunion tradition, I regret not knowing him as a young man. My guess is he was a very kindhearted and loving son, and my hope is the great memories you have, will somehow help you to navigate life without him. Aunt Mary (Babe) and Uncle Cotton just gained another Angel to help them to watch over all who remain. 💙
