Sheryl was a faithful member of the Astoria church of Christ. She cherished time with her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She loved tending her flowers and garden, caring for her goldfish pond, collecting antiques, and working puzzles. Some of her happiest moments were spent traveling with her daughter to antique stores and flea markets, and enjoying manicures and pedicures together.
Sheryl was proud to have won the “Longest Hair” contest at the Illinois State Fair for five consecutive years, with pigtails measuring over 35 inches long. She was a wonderful cook, and her family will always remember the comfort, care, and love she poured into every meal.
In her younger years, Sheryl worked as a waitress and later at Chuck and Bill’s Grocery Store until becoming a mother. She devoted herself to being an exceptional stay at home mom, volunteering at school and faithfully supporting her children in their activities. In later years, she enjoyed working alongside her sister Joyce in Kewanee during tax season at Douglas Irwin & Company.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Her son, Eric will be officiating.
