Together they had 2 children, Dave (and Brenda) Crouse of Ipava, IL and Shelly (and Jim) Herndon of Adair, IL.
They had 5 grandchildren; Cecily (and CJ Edwards) Dorsett, Eli (and Makyna) Doyle, Clay (and Kelsey) Crouse, Kylie (and Seth) Kessler and Dawson (and Jenna) Chenoweth, 6 great-grandchildren; Ariana, Jace, Kinsley and Kayson Doyle, Crew Kessler and Declan Dorsett. All of whom survive.

Carroll worked at Consol Coal in Norris, IL and Buckheart Coal in Canton, before going to Caterpillar in 1968, where he spent 30 years before retiring in 1998.
He owned and operated Carroll’s Lawn Care for many years. He had a love of cutting grass and took great pride in his work. Carroll was a Lover of Sports. He was an avid LA Dodgers fan as well as the Minnesota Vikings.
In the early years he could be found on a ballfield playing slow pitch as a Bernadotte Buccaneer with his fellow Caterpillar co-workers.
He loved being on the golf course, sitting around a card table, being at a good fishing hole with his son and grandsons or driving a tractor at Herndon Farms. He was widely known for his joke telling. Carroll didn’t know a stranger.
Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pastor Kevin Kessler will officiate. A visitation will take place from 9 to 11 am prior to the service. His final resting place will be alongside his father/mother-in-law, Weir and Eleaner Goveia in the Ipava Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Ipava American Legion. A meal will follow at the Ipava American Legion. Memorials can be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice or the V.A. of Galesburg, IL.
