Cheryl M. Schellhammer
August 8th, 1961 – August 13th, 2026
Cheryl M. Schellhammer, 65, of Table Grove, IL, passed away at 6:22 pm on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at her son Matt’s home in Ipava, IL. She was born on August 8, 1961 in La Grange, IL, the daughter of Donald and Nanci (Matthews) Lucas. Cheryl married Bruce Schellhammer on April 5, 1986 in Palos Hills, IL. He survives.
Also surviving is her son, Matt Schellhammer of Ipava, mother; Nanci Lucas of Homer Glen, IL, brother, James Lucas of Lockport, IL, nieces; Jamie Brozek of Herscher, IL, Kayla Rowan of Landsing, IA and Carol Smith of Waukon, IA, nephew; Bo Schellhammer of Minneapolis, MN, two brother-in-laws; Kevin Brozek of Hercher, IL and Dean Schellhammer of Lansing, IA, and one sister-in-law; Jann Schellhammer-Hekes of Apple Valley, MN.
She is preceded in death by her father; Donald and sister; Donna Brozek.
Cheryl graduated from Illinois Central College as a Registered Nurse. As an RN, she worked at McDonough District Hospital. She most recently was a CNA Instructor at Spoon River College, a position she enjoyed very much.
Cheryl also enjoyed nature, working on small crafting projects and bargain shopping.
Cremation rites have been accorded. No services have been planned at this time. Memorials may be made to the Ipava Fire Department and sent to Shawgo Memorial Home.

My sincere condolences Bruce & Matthew. Cheryl and I shared our love for nursing while working together at MDH. She was a wonderful nurse as well as a friend.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. I haven’t known Cheryl for very long, but she treated me like family from the minute I met her. She was such a great woman, with a heart of gold. She will be truly missed. 💔
