Jim A. McCombs

November 19th, 1943 – August 4th, 2015

Jim McCombs, age 71, of Astoria, passed away at 6:21 pm on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on November 19, 1943, the son of Charles and Bonnie (Edwards) McCombs. Jim married Peggy Stambaugh on February 23, 1980 in Astoria, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his son Jim (and Erica) McCombs of Canton, daughter, Dawn (and Robert) Vaughn of Astoria, four grandchildren, Andrew Bent, Nick McCombs , Elaina McCombs and
Charlie Bent, 4 brothers, Lloyd McCombs of Astoria, Tony (and Vickie) McCombs of Rushville, Patrick McCombs of Beardstown and Ted Bair of Harriman, TN and his sister Suzie Bair of Canton.

Jim is preceded in death by his three sisters, Janie Danner, Judy Wright and Nancy Westlake.

Jim worked for the Astoria Township Cemetery and helped on the Stambaugh farm as a farmhand. He enjoyed basketball, taking walks with his dogs and playing cards. He also enjoyed sports and was a Cardinals, Bears and Fighting Illini fan.

Services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, August 7, 2015. Interment will be in the Astoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jim McCombs family in care of the Better Banks, Astoria, IL.
